Q: Are there carparks at 222 Willis?
A: We do not have any carparking available at 222 Willis Street.
Residential parking and coupon parking is available in the surrounding area which can be purchased directly from the Wellington City Council.
We recommend our residents do not bring private vehicles as Wellington is very compact and has a great public transport system. As 222 Willis is located centrally most places are within walking distance, however there is a bus stop right outside the building with buses service the city center and train station.
222 Willis also has a secured undercover push-bike area, you will just need to bring your own chain.
Q: Can I remove furniture and fittings from my room?
A: No sorry. We do not have storage space and you are responsible for the furniture and fittings of your room for the duration of your stay.
Q: How much will I need to spend on groceries?
A: We recommend you budget between $50 - $85 per week on groceries. Also remember that you will have personal items and course related costs in addition to this.
There is a fruit and vegetable market directly across the road from 222 Willis. This is the cheapest way of purchasing your fresh produce and eggs.
Some residents choose to purchase a My Food Bag or similar and have this delivered weekly. CountDown supermarket also deliver groceries for a delivery fee.
Q: What items are provided in the bedrooms?
A: All bedrooms are furnished with the following:
- A standard single bed, mattress, and a mattress protector
- Desk and chair
Q: What items are provided in the living area?
A: Some of the two bedroom apartments & all of the four bedroom apartments have a separate living area which is furnished with the following:
- Dining table and chairs;
- Couches (4 bedroom apartments only).
Q: What items are provided in the kitchens?
A: All kitchens (including studios) are equipped with the following:
- Hob top
- Convection microwave
- Water storage bottle
4 Bedroom apartments come with an oven and freezer.
Communal chest freezers are available for use in common spaces.
Q: What personal items should I bring?
A: Students are advised to bring or buy as required:
- Desk lamps
- ‘Blue Tack’ or 3M command hooks for putting up posters and photos (no pins allowed in the wall)
- Coat hangers
- Laundry basket and washing powder, bath mat
- First aid kit
- Cleaning products
- Torch (Civil Defence)
- Three days of emergency food (Civil Defence)
Q: What is the Equipment Fee for?
A: The equipment fee you pay prior to arrival supplies each apartment with a basic kitchen equipment including items such as crockery and cutlery, pots and pans. Basically everything you need to get started. For a full list please see the Fees for 2018 page.
Q: Are there laundry facilities available?
A: Laundry facilities are available on Levels 1, 2, 3 and 4. Each wash and dryer load costs $3 which is paid by Eftpos or credit cards only.
Washing machines require you to provide your own laundry powder.
Our machines are industrial size so you can do large loads of washing at once.
Q: Is there telephones and internet in the rooms?
A: There are no phone lines provided in the apartments but there is great cellphone coverage in the entire building.
The wireless internet is provided by CityLink. Unlimited internet packages can be purchased for 1 day, 1 week or 1 month at a time. The best deal is the 1 month package for $39.95 providing unlimited data on two devices.
Q: Are pets allowed at 222 Willis?
A: Unfortunately pets are not allowed at 222 Willis. This includes fish.
